The Impact of Biological Sex on Body Temperature and Activity

Even a subtle change can create a large impact. When examining biological data, this principle applies more than ever. Historically, many biological studies have focused primarily on male subjects to avoid the impact of estrus cycles on female subjects.

The study we visualize observed the core body temperature and activity levels of male and female mice. Minute-level data for these health measurements were collected over a period of 14 days, in which 12-hour light cycles were used to control circadian rhythms.

Let’s explore the data to gain insights on sex differences and determine to what extent estrus cycles influence these measurements.
